Spring 2027 intake now accepting applications
GIKI MS and PhD admissions for the Spring 2027 semester are open at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Through graduate assistantship routes, selected doctoral scholars may earn Rs158,000 each month, while qualifying master's scholars may earn Rs88,000. Those packages also waive tuition and include free hostel lodging.
Fields on offer span engineering, computing, artificial intelligence, applied sciences and linked areas. Across thirteen subject lines, both master's and doctoral tracks appear in computer science, computer engineering, chemical, civil, electrical and electronic engineering, applied mathematics, applied physics, materials engineering and mechanical engineering. Master's-only options cover artificial intelligence, engineering management, and nanotechnology and materials engineering.
Stipends, tuition cover and duties
Under the PhD graduate assistantship labelled GA-6, the monthly payment is Rs158,000 with a full fee waiver and free lodging. The MS route labelled GA-5 pays Rs88,000 on the same tuition-and-hostel footing. For MS Artificial Intelligence, the institute's site lists a distinct package of Rs50,000 a month with fee coverage and accommodation.
Places are scarce and awarded on merit. Selection weighs prior grades, test scores and interview performance. Anyone who takes an assistantship must help faculty with teaching or research and sign a service agreement.
Who can apply and how selection works
Master's applicants need a relevant four-year bachelor's degree or an equivalent that equals sixteen years of schooling. For the standard MS assistantship, that path also asks for at least 60 percent in HSSC or an equivalent, plus a bachelor's CGPA of 2.70 or 70 percent marks.
Doctoral assistantship hopefuls need a relevant MS, MPhil or equivalent equal to eighteen years of education, with at least a 3.00 CGPA or 75 percent in that graduate degree, a bachelor's CGPA of 2.70 or 70 percent, and at least 60 percent in HSSC or an equivalent.
Candidates chasing assistantships must score at least 70 percent on the GRE, HAT or GIKI's general admission exam, and at least 60 percent on GIKI's subject test. Day-scholar rules differ: master's hopefuls need 50 percent on the general test and doctoral hopefuls 60 percent, with both groups still needing 60 percent on the subject paper. Those who clear the thresholds are called for interviews online or on campus. Test centres are listed for Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta and Karachi.
Deadline, start date and how to submit
GIKI MS and PhD admissions close on 27 November 2026. Classes are tentatively due to start on 18 January 2027. Applications go through the institute's graduate portal; after online filing, candidates must print the form and send it with supporting papers to the Graduate Admissions Office. Both the digital file and the hard-copy packet are required before the cutoff. Assistantship applicants should also read the service and funding terms tied to their scheme.
