Aspiring doctors sat the first PGET exam result 2026 test in Rawalpindi on Sunday, with 1,531 candidates appearing at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU). The Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) is the Punjab government’s entrance exam for admission to postgraduate medical residency training. It opens competition for Level-III residency posts in teaching hospitals under the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&ME), the Punjab body that oversees specialised medical education.

Who ran the exam and where

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore—the province’s main health sciences exam body—and RMU organised the sitting together. The test was held at RMU’s Tipu Road Campus, where organisers said they made comprehensive arrangements for the large number of candidates.

For doctors who have finished basic medical training, the PGET is the gateway into specialty residency. Places covered by this sitting sit under SHC&ME’s teaching hospitals across Punjab’s specialised healthcare network.

How the day was managed

Organisers said the examination proceeded in a transparent, orderly and disciplined setting, and that candidates reported no irregularities. An SHC&ME representative attended to monitor the process and provide departmental oversight.

The Rawalpindi District Administration backed the arrangements with dedicated teams from the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (Pera)—a provincial enforcement body—and Rescue 1122, the emergency service.

What university leaders said

RMU Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Suhail Amin, who also acted as regional head for the examination, visited the centres to review arrangements and watch how the test was run. He said he was satisfied with overall management and praised the professional, coordinated work of the institutions involved.

He especially thanked the UHS examination team, including Controller of Examinations Prof Mohammad Abbas, for coordination that helped complete the sitting smoothly under UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Suhail Sabir.

Candidates watching for the PGET exam result 2026 outcome will next wait for official scoring and merit lists from the exam authorities; this sitting itself was the first step in that 2026 residency cycle.
