The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Pakistan’s federal law-enforcement body for specialised crimes, has arrested Islamabad oil depot owner Sajid Mahmood in an FIA diesel theft case involving alleged theft and illegal transfer of government-owned high-speed diesel (HSD), the fuel commonly used in trucks, buses and generators.
An FIA official said on Monday that the Corporate Crime Circle Islamabad took Mahmood into custody during an operation by the circle’s EGOA Unit Islamabad. He is accused of involvement in the theft and unauthorised movement of diesel belonging to the government.
How the arrest unfolded
According to the FIA official, Mahmood owned an illegal oil depot. Investigators linked him to the alleged diversion of government HSD rather than lawful commercial supply. The same official said he has been nominated in FIR No. 06/2026, the formal first information report that opens a criminal case, over the alleged theft and unauthorised transfer of that diesel.
The operation was carried out in Islamabad by the Corporate Crime Circle’s EGOA Unit, which handles this line of inquiry for the circle. Beyond the arrest and the FIR number, officials have not yet set out in public how much fuel was allegedly moved or when the transfers took place.
What the allegations cover
In this FIA diesel theft case, the core claim is twofold: that government-owned HSD was stolen, and that it was transferred without authorisation. High-speed diesel is a controlled fuel product in Pakistan’s oil market; diverting stocks meant for official use can undercut lawful supply chains and deny the state fuel it paid for.
The FIA has framed the matter as a corporate-crime inquiry rather than a routine traffic or local police fuel check. Naming an oil depot owner in the FIR places both the individual and the depot operation under active investigation. Further court or remand steps were not detailed in the information released with the arrest.
What happens next
Mahmood is in FIA custody following the Monday operation. The FIR gives investigators a legal basis to question him, seek recovery leads and pursue any others who may later be named. No conviction has been announced; the allegations remain under investigation unless and until a court decides otherwise.
For now, the confirmed public facts are the arrest in Islamabad, the identity of the accused, the illegal depot claim, the government HSD allegation, and FIR No. 06/2026 filed through the Corporate Crime Circle’s EGOA Unit.
Aasan alfaaz mein
FIA ne Islamabad mein oil depot ke malik Sajid Mahmood ko giraftar kiya hai. Un par ilzaam hai ke unhon ne sarkari diesel (HSD) chori aur gair qanooni transfer kiya. Case FIR No. 06/2026 ke tehat chal raha hai. Aam logon ke liye yeh is liye ahem hai ke sarkari fuel ki chori se qanooni supply aur system pe bohran pad sakta hai.
