The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) has banned TikTok, SnackVideo and other social media apps within its premises, citing complaints that students were being filmed and posted online without their consent. The Islamia University social media ban was announced in a notification issued by the Directorate of Student Affairs, the university office that handles student matters. The university said the step was taken to protect the privacy and dignity of students, particularly female students. The decision follows complaints that female students were recorded without permission and that some of those videos were uploaded to social media.

What the university has said

The administration responded by restricting TikTok, SnackVideo and other social media apps on campus. The notification names TikTok and SnackVideo and covers similar apps as well, so the restriction is not limited to those two platforms. The Islamia University social media ban applies within university premises, and the university has not described it as applying anywhere beyond the campus.

Cases involving the creation or sharing of inappropriate content will be referred to the university's disciplinary committee, which will review them. The administration has made clear that anyone found violating the restrictions will face disciplinary action under university rules. The ban is therefore backed by internal penalties rather than a separate public procedure.

Wider concern about online harassment

Separately, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has warned that creating fake social media profiles of women, leaking their personal data or pictures, and blackmailing them online are punishable cybercrimes. In a statement on social media, the agency urged people not to stay silent and to report online harassment with relevant evidence. It asked the public to contact its helpline, 1799, about fake profiles, misuse of private images and blackmail.

In a separate case, police in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, arrested a suspect for allegedly uploading a video of a girl to TikTok through a fake account without her consent. The case came to light on September 25, 2026, when the girl's family complained to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Mirpur. Police said further investigation was under way to establish the facts.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Islamia University Bahawalpur ne campus ke andar TikTok, SnackVideo aur doosri social media apps ke istemal par pabandi laga di hai. Yeh faisla is liye kiya gaya kyun ke students, khaas taur par female students, ki videos bina ijazat bana kar online share ki ja rahi thi. Jo log is pabandi ki khilaf-warzi karenge, unhe university ke qawaid ke tehat disciplinary karwai ka samna karna parega. Students ke liye matlab yeh hai ke campus mein in apps ka istemal mana hai, aur kisi ki video bina ijazat banana sangeen masla ban sakta hai.
