The Punjab government has approved Rs1.10 billion to buy advanced CT scanners for three major public hospitals, aiming to upgrade diagnostic care in Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Health Department details issued on Friday said the funds cover new machines at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore, Lahore General Hospital (LGH), and Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi. Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood has given administrative approval for all three schemes.

Where the Rs1.1bn will go

Rs500 million has been sanctioned for a whole-body multi-ultra-fast CT scanner meant for cardiac scans at PIC, Lahore. A CT scanner is a hospital machine that takes detailed cross-section images of the body to help doctors diagnose illness.

Another Rs300 million will replace an outdated CT scanner in LGH’s Emergency Department with a new 128-slice machine. A further Rs300 million has been set aside for a 128-slice CT scanner at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi. Together, the three allocations add up to the Rs1.10 billion package.

Officials on the healthcare push

Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood said the move fits Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision and that the provincial government is carrying out large healthcare initiatives worth billions of rupees for public welfare. He restated the government’s commitment to high-quality care and modern diagnostic services for people in Punjab.

What patients can expect next

The approval clears the path to procure the scanners; hospitals will still need to complete purchase and installation before patients can use the new machines. Once in place, the units are meant to strengthen diagnostic capacity at three busy public facilities that serve large urban populations.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Punjab sarkar ne teen bari sarkari hospitals ke liye CT scan machines par Rs1.10 arab manzoor kiye hain. Lahore ke PIC mein dil ke scan ke liye machine, aur LGH aur Rawalpindi ke Benazir Bhutto Hospital mein naye 128-slice scanners aayenge. Ye machines bimariyan jaldi aur behtar diagnose karne mein madad karti hain. Mansoori ke baad kharidari aur lagane ka kaam hoga, phir awaam in se faida utha sake gi.
