Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan has agreed to buy Procter & Gamble’s manufacturing site at Port Qasim in Karachi. In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited said it signed an asset purchase agreement with Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited on 28 October 2026.
The company said the deal covers land, a manufacturing facility and related assets at the Port Qasim industrial zone. The notice described the move as an asset purchase rather than a full takeover of P&G’s Pakistan business.
What the agreement covers
Under the filing, Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan would take over the physical plant and associated assets at Port Qasim. Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan makes detergents, personal care goods and related products. The company was formed in 1977 as National Detergents Limited and took its present name in 1990 after a participation agreement with Colgate-Palmolive Company of the United States.
P&G had already begun leaving direct operations in Pakistan. Last year it said it would discontinue its business operations in the country as part of a global restructuring. That plan included winding down manufacturing and commercial work by P&G Pakistan and Gillette Pakistan Ltd., and moving to a third-party distributor model so Pakistani consumers could still be served from other regional operations.
The company linked the shift to a wider push to speed up growth and create value, including cutting 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs worldwide and leaving some categories and brands in individual markets.
Approval still required
Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan said the transaction still needs clearance from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, the national body that reviews mergers and large asset deals for competition concerns. Until that approval is granted, the purchase is not final.
In May, as part of its wind-down, P&G Pakistan said it planned to sell the Port Qasim land, manufacturing facility and related assets to Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan. Wednesday’s notice confirms that both sides have now signed the asset purchase agreement.
