Rubio registers Islamabad’s security warning

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Washington has taken note of Pakistan’s fear of militant violence coming across the Afghan frontier, and that the United States does not want Pakistan exposed to such attacks. He spoke in Atlanta as the G20 foreign ministers’ gathering closed.

Rubio summarised Islamabad’s view that assaults are organised from inside Afghanistan and that the Afghan Taliban have not done enough to stop them. He also said Pakistan has already moved in response. In brief remarks, he stressed that US officials have listened to those worries and want Pakistan kept free of militant targeting.

Islamabad’s reply to Kabul’s messaging

The same day, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting pushed back against comments from Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid. The ministry argued that Kabul’s leadership was deflecting responsibility instead of facing what Islamabad calls the core barrier to healthier bilateral ties: militant activity rooted on the Afghan side of the border.

Officials restated that Pakistan will not accept safe havens for militants across the frontier. They said the state retains the option, under international law, to remove dangers to national security. Continued refusal in Kabul to confront the problem, the ministry added, remains the main block to ordinary relations, and Pakistan’s safety will not be left at the mercy of delay or diversion.

Pressure over the banned TTP

Islamabad has for some time pressed Afghan authorities for clear, checkable steps against outlawed factions, above all the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group Pakistani officials say uses Afghan ground to hit Pakistan. Taliban officials reject the charge that Afghanistan is used as a launch pad for those strikes.

Rubio’s comments place a public US acknowledgment beside Pakistan’s renewed diplomatic pressure. Whether that alignment produces concrete Afghan-side enforcement remains unsettled; for now, the dispute over border militancy continues to define how Islamabad frames talks with Kabul.

Aasan alfaaz mein

America ke secretary of state ne kaha ke Pakistan Afghanistan se aane wale hamlon se pareshan hai. Unhon ne yeh bhi kaha ke America nahi chahta ke Pakistan par dehshatgardi ho. Pakistan ke wazarat-e-itlaaat ne Taliban ke bayan ka jawab diya aur kaha ke asal masla Afghanistan se nikalne wali dehshatgardi hai. Aam logon ke liye yeh matlab hai ke border ke paas amn ka masla ab bhi dono mulkon ke darmiyan bari rukawat hai.
