Undocumented foreigners in Attock now total 30,585 in figures presented to a meeting in Taxila on Saturday. Of that number, 20,005 chose to leave on their own during the repatriation drive, which is the process of sending foreign nationals back to their countries. The other 10,580 were documented in three separate phases of the same campaign.
Figures from the meeting
The district's law and order committee was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr Mudassir Ahmad Shah, who was briefed on enforcement measures taken in September 2026. Officials broke the documented cases down by phase: 232 in the first, 4,554 in the second and 5,794 in the third. Added to the 20,005 who left voluntarily, those phases make up the 30,585 total reported at the meeting.
Ten undocumented foreigners were being kept at a holding centre at the time of the briefing. A holding centre is a temporary facility where authorities keep people while their cases are handled.
Wider law and order review
The same meeting reviewed public order, crime prevention, traffic rules, encroachments, electricity theft and illegal fuel sales. Traffic officers handed out 7,680 challans, the tickets used for offences, in the September 1 to 30 period, with fines totalling Rs11.83 million. Authorities sealed two illegal petrol pumps and reported 50 violations of unauthorised LPG decanting, which means transferring gas from one cylinder to another, sealing 47 locations.
The anti-encroachment campaign removed 19 permanent and 1,218 temporary encroachments. Police screened 13,023 vehicles flagged as suspicious on the main highways, registered five first information reports (FIRs), and arrested five suspects. Of Attock's 502 religious seminaries, 202 are registered and 300 are not. Of 437 complaints from overseas Pakistanis, 360 had been resolved, and the deputy commissioner asked departments to tighten coordination and oversight.
