What changes in 2027

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s KP national curriculum 2027 plan will put classes 9 to 12 on Pakistan’s National Curriculum 2026 once the new academic year begins. Provincial education managers say every school in the province must teach from cleared materials only, and board papers will match the updated syllabus.

The curriculum and teacher-education directorate has circulated detailed orders. Separately, the body that regulates private campuses has told principals to study those orders and put them into practice without delay.

Subjects and who writes the books

Core subjects under the shift include English, Urdu, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, biology and physics. General science remains limited to the ninth and tenth years. The provincial textbook board is tasked with drafting or rewriting volumes for grades 9 through 12 so they match the national framework.

Examining boards across KP must set papers against the same revised outline. Any volume prepared or amended for this phase needs clearance from the curriculum directorate first. Campuses may not hand out titles that lack that stamp.

Commercial presses face the same gate: they must secure advance permission or a no-objection certificate before printing main texts or companion guides. The private-schools regulator has urged heads to check the directorate’s guidance line by line and keep classrooms compliant.

Enforcement before the new session

Officials caution that campuses, boards and publishers that ignore the rules risk proceedings under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Supervision of Curricula, Textbooks and Maintenance of Standards of Education Act, 2011—the provincial statute that governs syllabi, books and education quality. Work to align teaching resources and exam prep with the national outline must finish before the 2027 session opens.
