Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has begun interviews for air hostesses to be hired for its Karachi-based operations. Shortlisted candidates are being interviewed at a local hotel, and the session is being chaired by PIA Chief Human Resources Officer Athar Hussain. The airline has already completed interviews for its Lahore and Islamabad bases.

Who could apply and how

PIA announced the Karachi drive at the start of October, seeking female candidates aged 20 to 28 for cabin crew positions. Applicants were asked to submit their resumes and applications online through the PIA portal. A PIA communique gave October 7 as the deadline for online applications.

A bachelor's degree is the minimum educational qualification for the air hostess post. The airline had earlier run similar recruitment drives for its Lahore and Islamabad bases, and the Karachi interviews are the latest stage of that hiring round.

New rules for cabin crew

The recruitment comes as PIA has tightened conduct rules for its air hostesses. A circular said crew members may carry only one packet of cigarettes during flight duty, and no more than twenty cigarettes in a single flight duty. Violators face legal action, including suspension or removal from flight duties.

In June, the airline issued a separate directive that bars cabin crew from carrying cigarettes, cigars or other tobacco products in personal luggage. PIA has also banned smoking during flights, hotel stays and in public places while crew members are on duty. Management has directed all crew to comply fully, warning that any violation will lead to immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings.

Aasan alfaaz mein

PIA ne Karachi mein air hostess ki bharti ke liye interviews shuru kar diye hain, jo shortlist hone wale umeedwaron ke liye hain. Lahore aur Islamabad ke interviews pehle mukammal ho chuke hain. Jinhon ne 20 se 28 saal ki umar mein bachelor degree ke saath apply kiya, unke liye yeh marhala ahem hai. Cabin crew ke liye cigarette aur smoking par sakht qawaneen bhi laagu hain.
