The Lahore Ring Road Authority has put in place much heavier Lahore Ring Road traffic fines, lifting many tickets by as much as ten times under the Safe Roads, Safe Punjab vision on directives from Punjab Ring Road Authority chairperson Safiullah Gondal.

Drivers who used the orbital route for daily travel now face steeper costs for common breaches. Licence and age rules sit at the top of the scale, while phone use, seatbelts, speed and overtaking also carry large new amounts.

Licence, speed and phone penalties

Anyone caught without a valid driving licence must pay Rs5,000, compared with Rs500 earlier. Anyone under the legal age behind the wheel faces Rs10,000.

For cars, overspeeding and improper overtaking each attract Rs5,000. For vehicles above 2,000cc, those same offences each attract Rs10,000. Using a handset at the wheel or skipping a seatbelt moves from Rs500 to Rs3,000. Wrong-lane driving is Rs2,000; going against flow on a one-way stretch is Rs5,000.

Other Ring Road Lahore rules and amounts

Overloading rises from Rs2,000 to Rs7,000. Illegal parking doubles from Rs1,000 to Rs2,000. Smoke-emitting private vehicles face Rs4,000; commercial ones face Rs5,000.

Tinted glass, missing plates and unauthorised plates each carry Rs5,000. Motorcycles are not allowed on the route; entry draws Rs5,000. Pedestrians who cross the carriageway pay Rs1,000 instead of Rs200. Bringing animals onto the road costs Rs5,000.

These Lahore Ring Road traffic fines sit alongside an earlier provincial move in May, when Punjab listed fresh amounts for 26 offences. Authority messaging also pointed earlier to solar lighting and an electronic challan setup for the corridor.

What police are asking drivers to do

Lahore Ring Road Police have pressed motorists to stick to the posted Lahore Ring Road rules. For regular users, the practical message is simple: carry a valid licence, keep speed and overtaking lawful, leave phones alone, belt up, and keep bikes and animals off the carriageway.
