OpenAI has raised ChatGPT Pro limits for Work and Codex on its $100, $200 and $500 monthly plans, doubling many allowances from 29 October 2026 without lifting subscription prices. Existing subscribers receive the new capacity automatically; new customers get it at once. ChatGPT Plus usage limits are unchanged.
What changed on each Pro plan
On Pro 100 ($100 a month) and Pro 500 ($500 a month), Work and Codex allowances were doubled. On Pro 200 ($200 a month), customers who had been on lower allowances now get twice their previous usage so they match others paying the same price. Pro 200 customers who already held the higher allowance keep that level rather than seeing another doubling. The updates apply without cancelling or renewing a subscription.
OpenAI also reopened Pro 200 to new customers at $200 a month. Eligible users can see remaining capacity and reset timing in the Usage section of ChatGPT settings, and may buy extra credits for supported Work and Codex work after the included allowance runs out.
Planned Pro 200 cut cancelled
In September, OpenAI had told some subscribers that Work and Codex allowances on Pro 200 would fall from about twenty times the Plus level to ten times. Existing higher-limit customers were temporarily shielded, but the cut was due after 29 October. That reduction has been cancelled. Existing higher allowances stay in place, and those who had less capacity are being upgraded.
Work, Codex and Pro 500 speed
ChatGPT Work covers multi-step jobs such as research, file analysis and document creation. Codex is OpenAI’s coding assistant for writing, reviewing, debugging and changing software. Both draw on a shared usage allowance on eligible plans. Doubling the allowance does not always mean twice as many finished tasks, OpenAI says, because usage still depends on the model, task complexity, reasoning settings and how much information is processed.
Pro 500 includes Ultrafast processing for supported models, including GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Ultrafast uses included usage at eight times the standard rate and is not part of Pro 100 or Pro 200. Separate weekly limits for the GPT-6 Pro model in regular ChatGPT chats stay unchanged for Pro 100 and Pro 500; Pro 200 users who had lower weekly limits are being raised to the higher allowance.
Business plans and how to check
OpenAI says ChatGPT Business Premium subscribers also get more Work and Codex usage, but it has not given the exact increase. Business Standard is $25 per user monthly ($20 with annual billing); Business Premium is $125 per user monthly ($100 with annual billing). Those plans sit apart from personal ChatGPT Pro.
