The Senate passes two bills by majority vote in Islamabad on Friday after clause-by-clause consideration, clearing amendments linked to Pakistan Study Centres and the federal intermediate and secondary education board. In the same sitting, the House also saw the formal introduction of a separate bill to update the legal framework for the country’s oil and gas regulator.

Bills cleared in the Friday sitting

Members approved the Pakistan Study Centres (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Both went through clause-by-clause consideration before carrying on a majority vote.

Pakistan Study Centres support academic work on the country and its society. The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) oversees intermediate and secondary examinations for many students under federal arrangements. Friday’s account named the two amendment bills but did not set out each clause that changed.

OGRA amendment bill brought before the House

The Senate also witnessed the introduction of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The draft is meant to further amend the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002. OGRA — the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority — is the federal regulator for parts of Pakistan’s oil and gas sector.

Introduction is not the same as passage. After the Senate passes two bills already voted through, the OGRA measure stands only as a newly tabled draft. No final vote on that amendment was part of the Friday outcome described for the House.

What happens next

The two education-related bills have cleared the Senate stage reported for Friday. The OGRA Amendment Bill will still need the ordinary legislative steps before it can become law. No timetable for committee work or a later vote on that draft was given in the sitting summary.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Senaat ne Jumme ko Islamabad mein majority se do bill pass kiye. In mein Pakistan Study Centres aur federal education board (FBISE) se mutaliq amendments thin. Sath hi OGRA — oil aur gas ka regulator — ke qanoon mein tabdeeli ka bill House mein introduce hua. Introduce hona sirf peish karna hai; OGRA wala bill abhi pass nahi hua.
