Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has opened its first factory abroad, with the Sazgar Philippines plant inaugurated in Biñan, Laguna, bringing Pakistani-designed three-wheeler rickshaws and electric vehicles into the Philippine market.
Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr formally opened the assembly facility. The Embassy of Pakistan in the Philippines helped arrange the expansion, which will put Sazgar’s passenger and commercial rickshaws, along with electric vehicles, before local buyers. For a Pakistani automaker long associated with three-wheelers at home, the move marks a clear step into Southeast Asia.
Capacity, ownership and product mix
The Sazgar Philippines plant is planned for an annual output of 12,000 rickshaws. In the early phase, about 60% of that production is expected to be electric models, with the rest covering other passenger and commercial three-wheeler formats the company is introducing there.
Ownership is majority local: the plant is described as 60% Filipino-owned. Sazgar intends the site to function as its regional hub for Southeast Asia, not only as a single-country workshop. That framing places Biñan as a base for wider regional supply rather than a one-off export gesture.
How the launch was presented
Pakistan’s embassy in the Philippines publicly noted the inauguration and the arrival of Pakistani three-wheelers and related vehicles in the local market. The company is presenting the line-up as passenger rickshaws, commercial rickshaws, and electric vehicles aimed at Philippine consumers.
No separate figures were given in available accounts for how many units will ship beyond the Philippines, or for pricing in Manila’s market. What is stated is the plant’s rated capacity, the electric share of early output, and the majority Filipino ownership stake.
What happens next
With inauguration complete, attention turns to ramping assembly toward the 12,000-unit yearly target and to selling the passenger, commercial and electric models on the Philippine market. As a regional hub, the Biñan site is also positioned for further Southeast Asian reach over time, though no additional country launches or timelines were specified alongside the opening.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Sazgar Engineering ne Philippines ke Biñan, Laguna mein apna pehla overseas assembly plant khola hai. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr ne is plant ka iftetah kiya, aur Pakistan ki embassy ne is expansion mein madad ki. Yeh plant saal mein 12,000 rickshaw bana sakta hai, aur shuru mein lagbhag 60% electric models honge. Matlab Pakistani design ke three-wheelers ab Philippine market mein milenge, aur yeh plant Southeast Asia ke liye Sazgar ka regional hub bhi banega.
