HBL reported a record quarterly profit before tax of Rs41.9 billion for the third quarter of 2026, and its total profit before tax for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 rose to Rs115 billion. Profit after tax for the nine months reached Rs54.1 billion. For readers looking up HBL profit 2026 figures, these are the headline numbers from the bank's latest announcement.
Profit before tax is what a bank earns before income tax is deducted, while profit after tax is what remains afterwards. HBL's earnings per share, which is the profit attributed to each share, rose to Rs36.84 for the nine months. Taken together, the HBL profit 2026 numbers point to a stronger lending and fee business rather than a single one-off gain.
Balance sheet and lending
The bank's balance sheet, which is the total of everything it owns and is owed, grew 16% to Rs8.9 trillion. Total deposits closed at Rs5.9 trillion, and domestic deposits rose to Rs5.1 trillion on the back of strong growth in current accounts. The share of current account money in domestic deposits improved from 37.6% in December 2025 to 40.2% in September 2026.
Total advances, which are the bank's loans, increased to Rs2.2 trillion. The consumer lending portfolio reached Rs199 billion, and agriculture financing rose to over Rs119 billion. Net interest income, the gap between what the bank earns on loans and pays on deposits, climbed to Rs210 billion. Non-fund income, which includes fees, commissions and treasury business, reached Rs73 billion, lifting total revenue to Rs283 billion.
Dividend, capital and other steps
The bank declared an interim cash dividend of Rs6.0 per share for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. This comes on top of the Rs12 per share interim dividend already paid, which the bank described as 120%. Its Tier I capital adequacy ratio stood at 12.75% and its total CAR at 16.09%, both above the required levels; CAR measures how much capital a bank holds against its risk-weighted assets.
HBL President and CEO Muhammad Nassir Salim said the results reflected continued momentum across the bank's businesses and a focus on growing scale with profitability. He also pointed to the Core Banking Transformation, which he said is strengthening the bank's ability to innovate. The bank said administrative expenses grew by a subdued 6%, and that the Temenos Transact platform has now been rolled out to more than 800 branches.
In the same period, HBL opened its first Trade Business Center in Hyderabad and its 60th HBL Prestige Lounge, in Sukkur. It said cumulative Roshan Digital Account inflows exceed USD 2 billion, and that HBL Islamic was named Exclusive Banking Partner for Hajj 2027. The HBL Foundation allocated approximately Rs300 million to health, education and other initiatives in the first nine months of the year. Euromoney named HBL 'Pakistan's Best Bank' this year.
Aasan alfaaz mein
